Internal Bleaching

Internal Bleaching Centennial, CO

Whiten your teeth from the inside out.

Occasionally tooth discoloration may be coming from a dark area, deep inside the tooth. This may occur when the tooth experienced trauma and the nerves and blood flow have ceased functioning. (This is called a dead tooth or a nonvital tooth) Or, if you’ve previously had a root canal procedure, blood or other liquids may have leaked into the inside of the tooth. In these circumstances, no amount of surface whitening treatments will be enough to lighten the tooth. Instead, the solution is internal bleaching.

In our office, we can use internal bleaching to whiten the tooth from the inside out. We drill a small hole and insert a peroxide gel into the internal cavity of the tooth. Then, we leave the solution inside the tooth for about a week. During this time, it perforates into the dentin (structure inside the enamel) lightening the color of the tooth. At your next appointment, the gel is drained from the tooth and the hole filled. This method of endodontic whitening/bleaching is highly effective, and the tooth will be significantly whiter!
