Crown Lengthening

Crown Lengthening Centennial, CO

A preventative measure against periodontal infections.

Every patient is different, and that goes for their periodontal health as well. Some people are more likely to experience gum problems, often due to factors that are out of their control. One of these conditions is excess gum tissue, which may cover larger portions of their teeth than normal. Often known as a “gummy smile,” this trait can cause periodontal disease (as well as cavities) since the gums are more likely to trap food debris and bacteria. After an evaluation from our dental team, we may recommend a crown lengthening to correct the problem.

What does it involve?

Crown lengthening is a preventive measure against periodontal infections. In response to repeated gum infection, it can have remarkable effects on both the health of your teeth and gums, as well as your appearance. The procedure is quite simple. While the patient receives mild sedation, we remove the excess gum tissue. With the problematic gum tissue removed, we can also reshape the gumline to be more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing. As well as the noticeable change in appearance, the gums will be more resistant to future infection.

If you experience symptoms of periodontal disease such as red, sensitive, swollen, painful, or bleeding gums, then please contact or call us at (303) 741-2727.
